Life Insurance Payout unclaimed after 20 years!
What are deadlines for collecting Life Insurance payouts,on uncashed Payout Check issued in 1997?? What legal steps are needed,and by who,if needed? Thank You

Whew — I’m guessing that the insurance company already escheated that money to the estate.
You’d have to contact the insurance company, showing not only a death certificate but proof that you were either the beneficiary of the policy or the executor of the estate.
If the money was sent to the state, each state has its own unclaimed property division. In Illinois the website is: https://icash.illinoistreasurer.gov/
I do not hold out much hope of finding this money — but please let me know if you do!!
