Income tax extensions
On April 13th I sent via certified mail to the IRS & St of Illinois extension requests (because of late K-1 statements) with payments due in full for both returns. As of today, the checks have not been cashed & there has been no verification that the letters/payments are yet to be received; — what to do? I’m very concerned for sure. Went to the post office- they literally were not much help / just said to give it more time. Thank you for any response –

I’ll say the same thing: give it more time. You sent the requests by certified mail, so you have proof. That’s important.
Everything is being done electronically these days. You could have made your tax deposit and filed the extension request electronically. Then you’d know they received it. Now you have to wait until they get around to opening the mail!
Don’t worry — they’ll figure it out.
