Long Term Care Insurance
Good morning,
Have been researching Nationwide Care Matters II insurance.
One time premium payment of $120k for $240k coverage for me beginning at age 78. I am 73 now.
Includes a $20k death benefit.
Fidelity would use part of my current assets to make a one-time payment resulting in a Capital Gains tax of approx. $7k.
My concerns are this is a taxable event. SSA payments to me would be reduced. Medicare premium payments to me would be increased. IRMA. Valid concerns I believe.
Looking for an “instrument” where I can pay up front, 1 time, without the fear of losing anything I have paid into insurance.
Any suggestions or is there something else I should be looking at?
Thank you so much for any help you can give. I appreciate it.
