2024-25 FAFSA ISSUE

By Terry Savage on January 24, 2024 | College Savings / Student Loans

Does a FAFSA contributor need to create their own FAFSA ID IF: married, filing jointly?
The FASA site says NO. BUT my husband never received the email they were supposed to send him to consent to his information and IRS signature once I submitted our information as contributor #1.
Unable to reach studentaid.gov by phone, or email.
Thank you Terry.

I checked on this. At the start in January there was a glitch in requesting information from both contributors. BUT if you are married, filing jointly only one of you is the “contributor” –and the information from your joint return (2022) is used in this calculation.
