Ask Terry Questions 529 investment allocations

529 investment allocations

Terry, good afternoon. I heard you on John Williams show this week and you were answering a question about a student who was in college and there parents had a 529 and was is all in the most aggressive funds.

I have 2 kids in high school. One a senior this year and one a sophomore. Currently I have index 17-18 moderate fund for my senior, which has 20 percent in stocks. Should I transfer this money to the Bright Start Bank Fund?

And what would you suggest for the sophomore? She is currently in the index 15-16 moderate fund with Bright Start. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Bob

I would have all money for the senior in a money market fund — even though you might not need some of it for four years. The sophomore has more time so the moderate fund should be fine.
