Hi
I turn 65 in November I’m on SSI disability since 2007 my retirement age is 67
I pay $400 for Medicare monthly
I’m eligible for an Advantage plan should I sign up during the sign up period to avoid having to pay the 20% Medicare dosent pay in case I have high medical bills or surgeries?

Yes, although your benefits automatically convert to SS and traditional Medicare, you have this open enrollment period to supplement your traditional Medicare coverage. YOu can either purchase a supplement (expensive, but you cannot be denied if you apply immediately for the most comprehensive — and expensive — Plan G) and a Part D drug plan. I’d advise this if you can afford it. But your other alternative to cover what traditional Medicare doesn’t is an Advantage plan. That requires prior authorization for treatment. Do your research carefully. I suggest going to www.ehealth.com to talk to an agent licensed in your state.
