What recourse is there if your accountant refuses to quit?

I don’t quite understand your question! Are you talking about the person who does your taxes? If so, just fire him or her and take your most recent tax returns to a new accountant.
If you’re talking about an employee, you can fire them.
Make sure you get all your papers and past filings from the accountant. And if you have a hassle, write back to me. Maybe a call from a “reporter” will remind him or her that they have a responsibility — and could lose their license if they bully a client.
