Advantage Medicare Plans
Last year I qualified and switched from my Medicare Advantage Plan to a Medicare Supplement Plan after hearing your advice many times. My Advantage Plan was under Illinois Teacher Retirement (TRS) and according to the agent I went through he said mine was a great plan and hard to beat. I paid very little for the plan for both my husband and myself and never had any issues with claims through TRS. Many of my colleagues who are older than me with poorer health conditions continue to be covered through TRS without any issues. It seems to me that the TRS Advantage Plan is not your “typical” Advantage Plan and I’m wondering about switching back to it. My husband is 74 and I am 72. What are your thoughts?
Thank you,

There are some union sponsored Advantage Plans that use their leverage of huge numbers to make sure their members get the best benefits, the least restrictions on specialists, and the widest networks. It seems that yours is one of them. If you have a trusted agent, who can evaluate your plan, I would suggest you follow their advice.
