Bankruptcy

By Terry Savage on October 26, 2026 | Credit/Debt

I am 72 years old and my wife is 69. We have credit card debt and personal loan debt. Is bankruptcy something we should consider? Thank you.

Terry Says

You should immediately reach out to the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227. You can trust the advice of their non-profit member agencies. Bankruptcy may be the last resort but there also may be other options. They have programs to deal with your creditors and perhaps get the balances and interest rates lowered through a payment plan.

Please write back and let me know what they say, and what you decide to do!
