Buying gold proof coins

Terry, what do you think about buying proof quality silver and gold coins from the U.S. Mint?

Terry Says:  I think they’re a terrific gift for graduation or birthdays, and probably not a bad investment.  Just be sure to buy directly from the U.S. Mint.  I noted in a recent column that there are some scam coins coming in from China, complete with”proof” packaging — so people don’t open the packages to inspect.  Or use a true numismatic service.  Check them out at the website of the American Numismatic Assocation — www.Money.org.
