Ask Terry Questions Changing Medicare supplemental insurance

Changing Medicare supplemental insurance

By Terry Savage on October 29, 2024 | Insurance & Annuities

I was told by an advisor (from AskChapter) that if I switch my Medicare supplemental insurance plan, I may have to undergo medical underwriting. I never heard about this before. Is this true?

Terry Says

Yes, you WILL have to undergo medical underwriting. Unless you check some boxes that imply health issues, it’s pretty routine and does not require an examination. But if you have had cancer, or a broken-bone fall, or other issues you can either be denied, or will have to pay more for your same level supplement.
