Ask Terry Questions College Loans

College Loans

By Terry Savage on July 04, 2022 | College Savings / Student Loans

I have twin girls going to two different school. What is the process to get loans to pay for their education? Two different loans (I hope is not the answer) or one loan I can have distributed to the two school?

Oh wow, you really need a basic education. I hope they are not headed to college for a few years! This is a big, important process. It starts with your high school guidance office, where you will be directed to file the FAFSA form — the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It’s quite intensive and will take a while.
Then you can also consider applying for “merit aid” and private student loans to fill the gap.

Here is the one site that can explain everything: Finaid.org.

But please do consult your high school guidance officer. YOu’ll need to choose affordable schools — or ones that offer a lot of merit aid. But having twins in school at the same time should make you eligible for more aid!
And YES — you must go through the process twice — once for each child!!!
