Ask Terry Questions credit card practices

credit card practices

By Terry Savage on June 17, 2020 | Credit/Debt

I make payments to my credit card accounts on time, even a month ahead of due date. As I pay down the balance the bank periodically lowers the credit limit leaving it just above the balance due. I’m concerned that this has an effect my credit score. If it does, is there something that I can do? Other accounts (banks) are increasing my credit limit with out me asking for the increase.

Terry Says

Some banks are trying to limit their exposure in their credit portfolios. It doesn’t really impact your credit score. And if you want another card, it will help if you’ve paid down your balance completely. Sounds like this would be a good time to get a more generous card, so check rewards, points, deals, etc at www.Creditcards.com.
