Ask Terry Questions Credit cards

Credit cards

My wife and I are in our late 70’s, how many credit cards do you recommend that we use?

Terry Says

Two should probably be enough, and you should try to pay them off in full every month! And you can decide on which two, based on accumulating miles, points, etc. and on the annual fee.
But if you’re thinking of closing some cards, be sure to keep your longest held cards, as they contribute a lot to your credit score, through “length of credit history.”
Find the longest held cards by by getting your credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com.
