Ask Terry Questions Credit Freeze

Credit Freeze

By Terry Savage on June 12, 2018 | Credit/Debt

Hi Terry,
we froze all three credit rating account during the Experian breach. How long should we keep the freeze in force?
We watch you on WGN all the time!

Terry Says

If you don’t need to establish new credit, leave the freeze on your account. It will protect you against anyone opening a new account in your name and SS number. And if you do need to open an account, or apply for insurance, or a job (all of which might require allowing access to your credit report), you can “temporarily” lift the freeze for that purpose.
