Ask Terry Questions Credit Report of deceased

Credit Report of deceased

By Terry Savage on January 18, 2021 | Credit/Debt

How long do the 3 credit companies keep a deceased person’s records?

Terry Says

I don’t have an answer to that question. It depends on when and how they are notified. If your spouse is deceased, you should notify each of the credit bureaus, making sure you first remove his or her name from your own credit accounts. You may need to provide a certified copy of the death certificate, which you can get from your funeral director.
