Why can’t you get a credit report from Equifax without a cell phone number? Called and went to
WWW.annualcreditreport.com and was told I needed a cell phone or they would not be able to give me my credit report.

Hmm– you actually made me go to AnnualCreditReport.com to check my report with two of the three bureaus. Only Equifax required a cell phone. That’s because they require an extra bit of security — sending a text to your cell phone. But you can also get the security confirmation by email. So put in your house phone if you don’t have a cell, and then when given the choice request the security code be sent by email.
