Debt at death
If I die with debt will my heir be required to sell assets to pay it?
Terry Says
Unsecured debt — credit cards, personal loans — will die with you. Even if you leave other assets to your heirs (savings accounts, etc) they cannot be attached to pay off those unsecured loans. If you have a car loan, they will likely repossess the car. If you have a mortgage your heirs will have to repay the loan when they sell the property.
