Ask Terry Questions debt relief

debt relief

By Terry Savage on December 07, 2016 | Credit/Debt

I would like a recommendation of a service to help me get my credit card debt in line. Right now I have quite a few Credit card bills. I heard a commercial on the radio of a company that helps you settle with credit card companies a certain payback but not necessarily the whole amount. Can you help me? Thank you for your time and interest.

Terry Says

NO, NO, NO!!  Those "deals" to settle with credit card companies are a ripoff -- and they can get you into even more trouble!  Typically, they tell you to stop paying your bills and set aside the money in an account with them so they can negotiate  on your behalf.  But the card issuer will turn your account over to a collection agency, ruing your credit and even potentially exposing you to a garnishment of your wages! Instead, contact the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227, which will connect you tot he nearest local office.  You can trust them to help you deal with your situation.
