Ask Terry Questions Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance

By Terry Savage on June 30, 2019 | Insurance & Annuities

Hi. I am age 58 and self employed for 22 years and have had a disability policy for 15 years which is good until age 65. Recently I heard you on Chicago radio discussing disability policies for people in their 50’s. I thought you said you don’t recommend people in this age group to keep the policies. Did I hear right and if not, what is your recommendation? Thank you.

Terry Says

No, you did NOT hear me correctly.  If you already have a disability policy, please do keep it.  I said that in the mid-50s, you might want to look into a Long Term Care Insurance Policy — because those are likely to be the greater costs that impact your future.
