Divorce and Stimulus Money???
My Daughter is 39 with a 6 and 3 year old. She filed for divorce in March . Her husband makes approx. 130,000 Yr. she makes less than 50,000. There was a custody hearing and she got custody and he has supervised visits because of mental health issues. He is making mortgage payments on the home but she is paying for food, daycare, clothing, classes and upkeep of the house. She is putting everything on credit cards and is very deep in debt. The stimulus checks all went to his bank account and also their income tax return. Is there a way for her to apply for this money. It sure would help.
He also took out a loan on the house right before she filed. $130,000 . They can’t find this money, she’s pretty sure he invested it in Crypto Currency. Her Lawyer is investigating which is costing precious time and money.
Help and Thank you !!!

I wish I could help. I have been talking to the IRS and the Bureau of the Public Debt. They know for sure that people have taken other’s stimulus money — especially in the case of divorced couples. They don’t seem at all inclined to pursue the deadbeats — or even issue a bulletin (which I requested) that this is a crime! I’m still working on it and haven’t given up!
