establishing a credit history for student
my granddaughter recently applied for a credit card ar a dept store but was rejected because she has no credit history. what is the best way to esrablish it. she is a freshman college student.

She needs a “secured card” — a regular Visa or MC that is secured by a deposit of money in the issuing bank. But there are some traditional cards designed especially for college students (with a parent or grandparent guarantor). Here is a list of them at CreditCards.com.
