Ask Terry Questions expiring term life insurance

expiring term life insurance

By Terry Savage on July 23, 2020 | Insurance & Annuities

Can you point me in the right direction…My husband & I bought term life insurance 20 years ago, which is expiring soon. We still need life insurance, and would like to know what Terry recommends to shop policies. Thanks in advance.

Terry Says

Ah, that’s a problem. When we bought term life 20 years ago we figured the kids would be out of college, the mortgage paid off. But life happened. And there is often a need for more life insurance.
A lot depends on your health and whether you would qualify for a new policy now, and the cost. You need to compare that with the cost (if allowed) of extending your current policy — which will involve much higher premiums.
