FEP Blue Cross Blue Shield vs Tricare for Life for senior cancer coverage

By Terry Savage on October 31, 2025 | Insurance & Annuities

Hello: I I’m having trouble getting any insight as to which is better for me to continue the Blue Cross Blue shield Federal which does cover all of my cancer meds (kisqali) costs or using only my new husbands Tricare for Life.

I am now 77 and my FEP BCBS now costs me over $800/ mo, and Tricare is NO cost and seems to also cover the medicine ( $14,000 or so if no insurance). So I can put mine on hold and pick it up again next Open Season.. but I’m afraid if I need to switch meds in the course if my treatment or if our new cost cutting federal government will start cutting back on the free Tricare coverage for retired servicemen or somehow change the qualifications for him or his spouse.
If you can even refer us to someone who can compare the two systems for their coverage of Medicare age cancer patients, that would be great. I have been a great researcher in my life… But cannot find anyone who can answer this question!

Thank you so much!
