Financial Aid when parent’s income impacted by Covid

By Terry Savage on November 14, 2020 | College Savings / Student Loans

My husband filled out the FAFSA form for our daughter, who is a senior, earlier this year. He has since lost his job and has been unemployed for a few months now. Is there away to adjust that form? Are there new steps we should be taking? She has not picked a college yet.

Terry Says

Yes, absolutely you MUST adjust the FAFSA. Go back into the form and note the loss of income. Ask that the updated information be sent to all the schools that she has chosen. And just in case, you should contact each school’s admissions office AFTER filing the updated FAFSA, and calling their attention to this change. Do it immediately.
