Finding a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan

By Terry Savage on September 27, 2015 | Insurance & Annuities

Hi Terry, A couple of years back, you published the URL of a website that helps consumers find the best (most cost-effective) Part D prescription drug plan for them. You input the drugs you are taking (with dosage), and the website calculates your out-of-pocket costs for each plan that includes your drugs. Unfortunately, I forgot to save the URL. Can you help? Thanks!

Terry Says:  Believe it or not, the Medicare.gov website is the best place to compare Part D plans — because all of the plans available in your area (zipcode) must be registered with Medicare.  (That is not the case with other forms of health insurance, or even supplements.  You can search for those types of plans at websites like www.eHealthInsurance.com.)

Here’s the link to the Medicare.gov Part D planfinder tool.  Note that you can either do a general search, or a more specific one by inputting your current prescriptions.)
