You’re walking into dangerous — and expensive — territory asking for a loan these days. First stop is a home equity loan, if you own your own home. Second stop is a loan from your 40l(k) plan. Those will be least expensive.

Then you’re getting into online lenders and exorbitant rates.

But just be aware not only of the stated rate, the compounding of interest if you don’t make on-time payments. This violates the basic rule of personal finance: When you’re in a deep hole, stop digging!
