Ask Terry Questions Fine for no insurance

Fine for no insurance

Is there still a fine for no insurance?

Terry Says

There is a fine if you do not have health insurance in 2018– but three will be no fine under the Affordable Care Act in 2019. This allows you to go without insurance — a terrible idea! Even worse, healthy people will opt out — leaving sicker people in the pool of insureds. Insurance companies aren’t dumb: they will recognize this and raise premiums!

If you think you can’t afford health insurance, consider how you will afford paying for care if you need it — or being sued by a provider and possibly losing your home if you can’t pay!

The health insurance situation is a terrible mess. At the very least consider purchasing a limited coverage, short term policy. Search at www.eHealthInsurance.com.
