That depends on what you mean by pre-plan, and also your circumstances in life.
Yes, you should be organized, have a will, and documents easily accessible. Download the Personal Financial Organizer form linked at the top right of my website.
Among those paper should be your cemetery deed. And a letter of instructions about your preferred services. Note — this is not I your will, which may not be read until after your funeral!
If your question is about PRE-PAYING for your funeral, I have my doubts. Surely you will leave enough assets to pay for simple funeral expenses. Why give the money to a company ahead of time?
The only exception might be if you applied for a state Medicaid program, and a pre-paid funeral plan is considered an exempt asset.
