How do I seek a Zero Interest Credit Card

By Terry Savage on February 01, 2021 | Credit/Debt

Hi Terry,
I have a Visa with a balance of 18K that I want to pay off. I pay well over the minimum due each month but the the interest charge is barely depleting the balance so I want to find an introductory zero interest rate credit card to transfer the balance as I know I can get this paid off within a year if I do not have the interest (and not use). I have been working to improve my credit score which I believe by March it will be in the 700s. I mention this because the little research I have done the introductory no interest credit cards want an excellent credit score. What is the best way for me to find the best credit card and apply that I want to do a transfer and not attain more credit (as I don’t want more credit well under the balance I want to transfer)? I don’t want to get several hits on my credit report so want to find the best method to do this? If it matters I am single, in my 50s. Thank you in advance for your help!!

Use this link to the “balance transfer” section at CreditCards.com. But don’t fool yourself. Pay off that card and either close it or if it’s your only card and you’ve had it for a while, just put it away!
AND, be sure to pay off the balance in the allotted time, or you will see a huge jump in the interest rate on your new card!
