How to sell a coin collection
I inherited a large coin collection that consists of US and foreign coins, paper currency, loose coins and packaged proof/mint sets. What is the best way to sell the collection for a “fair” price?

There’s always the possibility of getting ripped off. YOu’d never know whether amidst a large collection there might be one very rare coin!
Start by using a reputable coin dealer. You can find one at the website of the American Numismatic Organization — www.Money.org.
If you’re in the Chicago area as many of my readers are, I personally recommend Harlan J. Berk
https://www.hjbltd.com/#!/ at 31 N. Clark Street in the Loop. If it’s a large collection, you might even want to come to them from a distance.
Make a list of the coins you have to the best of your ability, and keep count of the collection before showing it to anyone! And plan to spend the afternoon just sitting there going over each coin, and a reputable dealer will show you comparable sales at auctions, etc.
