I-Bond — penalty
Gm Terry I heard what you said about the I bonds my question is I’m $500 worth is it better to buy 5 $100 or 1 $500 or does it matter?

Just buy $500 of I-bonds. You can partially cash them in if you need some of the money after holding it for a year, (paying a 3-months loss of interest penalty) if you do so before 5 years.
