I-Bonds

By Terry Savage on April 29, 2023 | Chicken Money

I was filling out the form to purchase an “I” bond, and the form said
Do I Have — “A Web Browser That Supports 128-Bit Encryptio”?

I have no idea what a 128 Bit is? I think it is for security purposes since I am listing by bank account info, and SSN. How to find this out?

I assume my Tax payer No. is my SSN?

I can add a beneficiary on the bond if I pass away prior to the termination date?

Thank you for your help.
Val

If you have a modern browser, you are probably safely encrypted. Don’t do this at a Starbucks on WiFi!
Yes, your SS number is your taxpayer ID
And yes you can add a beneficiary.
