Oh, what a painful post this is.  OK, let me try to be immediately helpful. I see you have access to the internet.

Let me guess that you are in Illinois — because that’s where my radio and tv appearances mostly are.  So here is a link to the Illinois Department of Aging.  YOu can find so many resources, and I hope you will reach out and keep calling:  Illinois Department on Aging

And, just in case you are from another state, here is how to find your state’s department on Aging:  Resources Near You | HHS.gov

Also, the VA has an ombudsman program and various contact resources.  So use this link to find them:  Contact Us | Veterans Affairs (va.gov)

If you did not receive a check, I’ll assume you have a place to live (or at least an address where it should have been mailed) — and perhaps a bank account?  Without more details, I can’t help you with specifics, but if you contact the VA at some of the listed numbers on this site, I hope they can help.

And as a last resort, your city certainly has a food bank, or walk into any church in your community and ask for help.  If you are a veteran who served in our armed forces, there are many people waiting to help you.  I’m glad you reached out to me — and I hope you will write back and let me know how you are doing.
