Identity theft?

Hi Terry, A friend suggested I run this past you and that you are very responsive. I found through my employer that I am a victim of unemployment fraud? Someone tried claiming unemployment benefits under my name. I am in a bit of panic because I understand that means they have access to my social security number now. So I am looking for advice or suggestions on how to proceed. I have contacted my bank and my employer denied the claim. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
