Impact of authorized user on credit score

Terry, how does being an authorized user on a credit card affect your own credit score?

Terry Says

If the authorized user is late in making payments, that reflects poorly on your credit history. And, of course, a “collection” based on her or his shopping and lack of payment will destroy your credit. So be very careful of allowing someone else to use your credit. If it is for your child, there are several credit card programs that allow them to have their own credit card, which you can track online and reload if necessary. Check out this article for a list of the best ones.

You want to make sure that the teen is building credit under his/her SS number. It’s easy to do with these cards.
