Insurance/Cognitive Decline — notification of lapse

By Terry Savage on November 22, 2015 | Insurance & Annuities

Just read your column in today’s Baltimore Sun. Don’t some insurance companies allow the policyholder to name someone to be notified if the policy is in danger of lapsing? This could be especially useful for LTC insurance.

Terry Says:  Yes, most companies offer this feature — but it is also helpful to maintain a relationship with your original sales agent for your policy.  Then when it comes time to activate the policy, they can be helpful.  And if there is a lapse, they will be able to notify the person you have named.
