Investment returns on Brightstart

By Terry Savage on April 21, 2019 | College Savings / Student Loans

If I had invested $2,000 per year in an Illinois brightstart account beginning in 2002 and my child is going to college in the fall of 2019, how much could I have expected to have in total now?

Terry Says

That’s something I can’t calculate!  It would all depend on which funds you chose.  But I’m sure they did the correct calculations, so look at the balance in your account.  And if you didn’t invest and wish you had — just remember all those gains would have been tax-free if th4e money were spent on callege.  That would add probably 25 percent to your after-tax comparison!
