First, spend some time at Finaid.org. There you will learn about all types of loans — and their consequences! Then go to StudentAid.ed.gov — where you will learn everything about Federal student loans, which is where you should start. And you’ll learn about filing the FAFSA — the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Once you understand the basics, you can evaluate next steps —
First Federal Student Loans, then private loans or perhaps parental Plus Loans. And if you want to compare deals being offered, I recommend Credible.com.
