Long-term, high rate, already consolidated student loan!

By Terry Savage on June 12, 2015 | College Savings / Student Loans

I HAVE A SCHOOL LOAN FOR THE PAST 18 YEARS AT 7.5% AT ACS. IS THERE ANY WAY I COULD GET A CHEAPER LOAN. UNFORTUNATELY I HAD CONSOLIDATED WHEN I RECEIVED THE LOAN. EVIDENTLY I WAS YOUNG AND UNAWARE OF ANY ALTERNATIVES.

Terry Says:  Ugh — 18 years at 7.5%!  That is ugly.  And yes, you can only “consolidate” student loans once.  BUT, now you can refi the entire loan to a lower rate private loan.  Read the column I just posted on my website.  Then, go to www.SoFi.com.  If you have a job and a good loan payment record you can now refi even Federal student loans.  Please let me know what happens–what lower rate you get.
