Medacare/High deductible Health Insurance Savings Account

By Terry Savage on March 10, 2025 | Insurance & Annuities

Turn 65 next year in June, someone told me I have to STOP putting money into it 4 months before I sign up to Medicare. I was going to sign up for part A next year since I still work and turning 65. Does that mean I have to STOP putting moony into HD Savings account starting in September this year? Also should I be investing the money in my HD savings account? I just never wanted to lose it, I have 60 k in there now.

The solution is DONT sign up for Medicare Part A — as long as your workplace insurance does not require it!!
There is a 6-month look back period — but not before reaching age 65 – to stop contributing to your HSA.
