I have medical debt and I was wondering what the rules were for the debt to be forgiven

You need to contact the financial office of the physician or hospital, and let them know you simply cannot pay. Most have some kind of deal they can offer. Or contact the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227. You can trust this non-profit, and they may be able to help you deal with your medical creditors.
