Hi Terry. My mom passed away on 03/12/26. Social security posted her March payment after her death in her bank account and is now withdrawing the March payment. I was told by the funeral home this payment would still be hers. Can you tell me if this i s true?

Nope. They always do that.
This from the SS website:
“The SSA cannot pay benefits for the month of a recipient’s death. That means if the person died in July, the check or direct deposit received in August (which is payment for July) must be returned.”
But there is a $250 death benefit which you could receive.
