Medicare enrollment
Hi Terry,
My husband (Terry) is retiring in July 2027, he’ll be 67 and I’ll be 68 at that time. We are both on part A and his BCBS through his employer now. When should we enroll for part B so we don’t get penalized? This coming January? And should we do the part D supplement? I’m on BP med and both on a statin, that’s all. 🙏should we check into the Advantage?
Thank you!
Terry Says
You will EACH apply for Medicare in May, to start in the month he retires. At that time, you’ll want to sign up for Original Medicare (A&B) plus a Supplement, AND Part D — each of you. Please read the special report in the box on my website to understand the disadvantages of Advantage plans.
Your Part B and D premiums will be based on your recent earnings. If those go down in retirement, you can appeal in two years for a lower premium.
I highly suggest using the MedicarePocketProtector.com website to guide you through the entire process.
