Medicare Part D
My birthday is in November so when I became eligible for Medicare my out-pf-pocket was still $2k to cover my medication for two months. Why doesn’t the out-of-pocket get pro-rated?
Terry Says
It’s a shame you didn’t have coverage from your job for those two months. But yes, in 2025, you are liable for the first $2000 in drug costs. And in 2026, that will go up to $2100. But if you’re still taking expensive drugs, there is an extended payment plan that lets you spread out the costs and not be forced to pay the whole $2100 in the first few months.
Did you review your Part D drug plan for 2026 at Medicare.gov? Be sure to do that to make sure you’re on the least expensive plan — and that your 2025 plan will still cover that expensive drug in 2026!
