Medicare part G
How do I get the original Medicare part G without using an Advantage Plan? I have been on Medicare part A and B for 10 yrs. and my husband’s cobra which is very expensive for a year. My husband passed away May 25th of this year.

OK, it is not Medicare Part G. Instead “G” is a supplement to traditional Medicare.
If you have already been on Medicare A & B for 10 years, what have you been using as a supplement? Was it your husband’s work insurance? Did that stop in May?
If so you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period which is the 8 months after you lose your spouse’s coverage. Immediately go to Medicare.gov and search for a supplement plan. The “best” most comprehensive (and also most expensive) is Plan G. If you qualify for the SEP, you cannot be turned down for Supplement G — even if you have pre-existing conditions.
Do this immediately — and please write back if there are any issues.
