Ask Terry Questions Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement

By Terry Savage on December 08, 2024 | Insurance & Annuities

Hello. I’m so confused! I’m currently 67 and on Medicare. When I originally signed up for Medicare I wasn’t working. Currently, I’m working and am covered under my employer’s medical insurance plan. I have been paying $159 a month for a supplement and $21 a month for a prescription plan. Do I need a supplement and drug plan, if I have employer health insurance and Medicare.

Terry Says

Taht depends on your employer’s plan. They may require it, since you are eligible for Medicare. Ask your HR department. One other thing to consider is how long you intend to work. If it’s just for another year or so, you may want to hang on to your G supplement, since if you have medical issues after you retire, you may not get that great supplement back.
