I currently have plan F with BCBS, the plan was discontinued in 2020 ,but grandfathered members ,I am trying to find a Insurance person to find out if you change plans with the same company ,are you subject to pre-existing conditions ,changing from F to G ,which is basically the same except for the deductible ?I’ve tried BCBS directly and several alleged Medicare specialist ,but none really are able to answer ,if you could point me somewhere would appreciate PS wonder why it doesn’t come up more?

This was such a complicated question that I sought advice from a real expert — Thomas Dillon of JT Medicare Solutions.
I learned something! Here’s what he said:
In Illinois, the Medicare Supplement (Medigap) birthday rule allows individuals between 65 and 75 years old who already have a Medigap plan to change to a different plan with the same or lower benefits from the same insurance company during a 45-day window around their birthday, without medical underwriting. This means they can switch plans without answering health questions or being denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions.
So yes he can.. but only until age 75. After that they will underwrite him/her.
Feel free to reach out to Thom at 800-227-1012 if you want his help making the switch.
