Medicare vs Private Insurance

By Terry Savage on December 01, 2024 | Insurance & Annuities

I am a retired federal employee, receive a monthly annuity (CSRS) and am eligible to maintain medical insurance through Federal Employee Health Program for life. I just turned 65; my Medicare sign-up window is through 28 Feb 2025. I intend to retain my Fed BCBS and intend to sign up only for Medicare Parts A and B. My Part B premium will cost $370 for a total monthly insurance cost of $615. Does Medicare still make sense for me or should I max private insurance?
I have no health issues and rarely use my BCBS. Advice wlecomed. Thank you.
