Nearing retirement, converting to ESG Index Fund
Hi Terry, Thank you for this!
I am retiring 4/30/27. I have always invested in low-cost socially and environmentally responsible Roth IRAs. I’ve been advised to convert through Fidelity or Schwab to an index fund, but I can’t, in good conscious, support fossil fuels, genocide, data centers and other evil industries. Can you recommend any ESG funds I can move to guilt-free, that would be safe for my retirement funds? I’m leantowards Fidelity because they seem to have better politics, but if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
Thank you,
Terry Says
Wait. If you already have Roth IRAs, why do you need to move or convert them?
If you want to change investments INSIDE your ITA, there are no tax consequences.
But I’m hard pressed to find ANY investments these days that are completely socially responsible — even/especially US Treasury Bills!
